Wavy Lady Of The Week 001: Kiyokila

Tell Us Your Name

Paige but a lot of people know me by (Kiyokila)

What’s your wave?

I like to consider myself as a creative; I do more than just model & design clothes. Over the past couple of years I’ve taught myself motion graphics, animation, graphic design, as well as video editing. More recently I’ve been focusing on a way to incorporate all of my skills into one thing, which is currently what I’m working on as my newest project.

How did you get the vision to start your wave? Why?

I’ve been through a lot of things throughout my life, a lot of things that would cause any normal person to go “mad”; for a while I fought the urge to go mad because I thought that madness was a sign of weakness or showing emotions made you vulnerable. Growing up, Alice in wonderland was always my favorite movie I wasn’t sure why until I was older and able to watch it with a bigger mental capacity and understanding the quote “we’re all mad here” stuck with my spirit and I began doing research about madness and I found many articles relating to most geniuses being on the verge of madness and I was immediately inspired.

(KIYOKI) actually means madness in Japanese so that’s where that comes from. A couple of months ago I got embrace madness tattooed on the back of my ankles to remind everyone that sees me going to do the same, let the madness inspire you and embrace instead of running away or trying to fight it.

What do you keep in your self-care kit?

A few things that I always have with me at all times.

Would first and foremost my mini sewing kit, being a designer I always run into things that need to be hemmed, seems that need to be tightened buttons that need to be replaced even if it’s not mine, I’m the first person my friends look to when there’s a wardrobe malfunction.

Besides that, since I’ve had my daughter (February 5th) I was given an amethyst stone which I believe really helped me through labor so I still carry it around with me, and I always have to have my handy Backwoods (sweet aromatics) being my fave.

What is your all-time favorite sneaker?

I’m definitely more of a heels kind of girl but if I had to choose my all time favorite sneaker it would be the all black Chanel joints, their so elegant yet still a sneaker! Definitely would love to get my hands on a pair of them one day
